Despite the winter like weather we had a great turn-out for the Annual Open House. Everyone enjoyed the new look, new art/crafts, door prizes, food and the best of all seeing friends who were out of town over the winter.

GALLERY OPEN HOUSE & SPAGHETTI DINNER

OPEN HOUSE at the Garden Gallery is Thursday May 23, 2013 from 5-8pm. Enjoy an evening of snacks and desserts while shopping. Door prizes are donated by local artists. Or you may be the lucky winner of a $50 gift certificate donated by the Gallery.

SPAGHETTI DINNER at the Garden Community Center is the same evening from 4-8pm. Get out and support the Big Bay de Noc Girls Basketball Team and Cheerleaders. They will be serving spaghetti, salad, rolls and a beverage for $7.00.

Come on out and enjoy the evening with family and friends.

Our next gathering will be on April 25 at St. John's Hall, 5pm.

I thought "Bring Spring" would be a hopeful theme. Can you believe all the snow!!
We're going to wish Spring into coming with our fun and healthy Spring dishes even though it looks more like a winter wonderland out there. Maybe in two weeks most of the snow will have melted.

I hope you can join us for another evening of great food, friends and conversation. If you would like to demonstrate or tell us about a special recipe, just let me know. Demos always welcome!

Can't bring a dish this time? That's just fine, we'd enjoy your company and there's always enough to go around. Bring friends and neighbors too. Hope to see you and if you can, please let me know if you'll be coming. Ruth Craig, 644-3534.

Knitting Socks with Linda Price

On Wednesdays in March you will knit your own pair of socks under the guidance of our instructor. You will be meeting on March 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 10am to noon in the back room of the Village Artisans. It is a free workshop. Please register by calling Ruth at 906-644-3534. You will be given instructions when you register. Ruth states there is plenty of needles and yarn if you need, so register and knit your own socks!

Hi Happy Cooks and Eaters: Hope your Holidays were nice and your new year is beginning happily.

It's good to be back with you in the UP. We will gather again on Thursday, January 24, 5 to 7:00, in St. John's Hall.

Our theme for the New Year will be New recipes and dishes. If you can, try
out a new recipe to share with us...or one you haven't shared yet. Be
daring! It's fun to use us guinea pigs for something new! We're friendly
tasters, kindly critics and like it all! If you aren't able to cook this
time, please join us for the food and fellowship with great people.

Silent Auction December 8th

The 2^nd Annual Village Artisans Holiday Silent Auction will be held at the Village Artisans in Garden on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Doors will open at 6:45pm. Auction items will be on display for bidding until 8:00pm. Come, browse and bid on your favorite item. At 8:00 auction attendees can mingle and enjoy live music and refreshments in the back room while their purchases are collected and made ready for payment and pickup.

You will see all items with descriptions. If you double click on one of the pictures, you will get a slide show with larger view of each item.

Thursday December 13, at 5-7pm at St. John's Hall we will have "Christmas Candy Making". We will have demonstrations of peanut butter fudge making by Lael Thelander; Toffee making by Joyce LaTullip and Pat Rasmussen, and Chocolate Covered Balls by Tom Trisch. Come and demonstrate your favorite candy making, bring a recipe to share with our candies, or just come and enjoy the great food and good company! Christmas Greens Workshop, Thursday November 29

Come join us on Thursday at 9:30 until 12:30 for a free Christmas Greens Workshop using fresh greens to make swags, center pieces, etc. to take home with you! We will meet in the back room of the Village Artisans and have experienced instructors showing us how to make the items.

Feel free to bring extra fresh greenery or your favorite containers or decorations. Pictures are examples of last years creations!

Village Artisans Quilt Drawing

Pat Rasmussen is mixing up the raffle tickets and Linda Trisch draws the winning ticket at the annual membership meeting for the Village Artisans and the last opening day for the gallery.

And the winner is........Debbie Johnston from Peshtigo, WI. Debbie will be picking up the quilt when she comes to visit with her dad, Howard Ansell of Garden. Congratulations Debbie!! Thank-you to everyone who bought tickets in hopes of winning the beautiful quilt but more important to support the area art programs for children and adults.
