The Garden Gallery will be hosting their Annual Open House Thursday May 26, 2016 from 5-8pm. As in the past you can enjoy desserts, hopefully win a door prize donated by the artists, maybe win the 50/50 drawing sponsored by the Village Artisans, while you are browsing the beautiful arts/crafts on display. Many items are one of a kind so don't hesitate to buy thinking it will be there another day.
This year Tri-Star will be hosting the Spaghetti dinner. This is a fundraiser for them as they would like to purchase an Electric Lift. The dinner starts at 4:30pm...be generous in your free will offering for the meal. We are very fortunate to have Tri-Star and volunteers in our area.
Plan for a full afternoon to also visit the Historical Society, The Dock, Garden Golf Course, the Inn and Coffee Exchange, the Welcome Center and bus tour by Heritage.
We are so sad to share that Margo House passed peacefullly at home as the sun was rising the morning of Wednesday, April 27 about 6:15 A.M. A service of thanksgiving for and celebration of her life was held at Unity Church in Albany, NY on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. Family suggested memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, made to Planned Parenthood or Georgian Bay Forever, a land trust whose mission is to protect her beloved georgian Bay ecosystem.
Margo House was an extra-ordinary woman. Margo along with Ginny Smith founded the Garden Gallery and Village Artisans. Margo with a group of interested people, purchased a 100 year old building to serve as a center for meeting and displaying artwork created by local artists and formed a non-profit organization called the Village Artisans. In 1985 they opened the Garden Gallery, a for profit organization so local artists could sell their art work. In 1991 the 100 year old building was demolished and a replica constructed in its place. The Village Artisans and the Garden Gallery are still going strong since Margo started it all 33 years ago. Thank you Margo!!
Margo continued to encourage us and support us even after she left Garden to move to Marquette and later New York.
Garden Gourmets met April 28th with the theme of "Welcome Spring". We enjoyed many dishes from all who attended. There will be no regular Garden Gourmets meeting in May as the 4th Thursday will be the opening of the Garden Gallery! Hope to see you at the opening on May 26th!
