VILLAGE ARTISANS, 6367 STATE ST. P.O. 81, GARDEN, MI 906-644-2025, firstname.lastname@example.org
We are so sad to share that Margo House passed peacefullly at home as the sun was rising the morning of Wednesday, April 27 about 6:15 A.M. A service of thanksgiving for and celebration of her life will be held at Unity Church in Albany, NY on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. Family suggests memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Planned Parenthood or Georgian Bay Forever, a land trust whose mission is to protect her beloved georgian Bay ecosystem.
Margo House was an extra-ordinary woman. Margo along with Ginny Smith founded the Garden Gallery and Village Artisans. Margo with a group of interested people, purchased a 100 year old building to serve as a center for meeting and displaying artwork created by local artists and formed a non-profit organization called the Village Artisans. In 1985 they opened the Garden Gallery, a for profit organization so local artists could sell their art work. In 1991 the 100 year old building was demolished and a replica constructed in its place. The Village Artisans and the Garden Gallery are still going strong since Margo started it all 33 years ago. Thank you Margo!!
Margo continued to encourage us and support us even after she left Garden to move to Marquette and later New York.
Garden Gourmets met April 28th with the theme of "Welcome Spring". We enjoyed many dishes from all who attended. There will be no regular Garden Gourmets meeting in May as the 4th Thursday will be the opening of the Garden Gallery! Hope to see you at the opening on May 26th!
The Village Artisans will hold their annual Plant Sale June 4th at the Farmers Market at the pavilion in the Garden Village Park. There will also be a yard sale held on the lawn and deck of the Village Artisans. If you have any plants to dig up and donate and need help potting up the plants, call Ginny Smith. If you have items for the yard sale, call Ruth Craig. Thank you for any donations!!
Winter/Spring Wednesdays at the Gallery
From January through April, the Village Artisans came alive each Wednesday with the happy buzz of barn quilters and knitters, along with the friendly chatter of those dropping in for coffee and goodies.
Sara Bagley led the barn quilt groups, assisted at times by Lael Thelander, Lois Willett, Bonnie Simonelli and Marilyn Hickey. Linda Price mentored the knitters as they created beautiful and unique pieces.
It was a merry morning each week, as friends old and new enjoyed the activities and fellowship while learning a new skill....this coming Wednesday April 27th is the last Wednesday morning to gather before the opening of the Gallery. Come join us for coffee and goodies!
Ruth Craig, President
What a great turn out we had for January's gathering! It was such fun with delicious dishes and happy conversations! Our February gathering will be our traditional meeting time, fourth Thursday February 25. We hope you can join us. Invite friends and neighbors, the more the merrier!
The theme is Soup and Salads and Breads. Soups are always a wlecome warming on cold dwinter evenings and there are so many different ones to create. All desserts are always popular and a fun way to end the dinner.
We will not be meeting in March....hope to see you February 25th!
